Introduction
Welcome! This seminar is a 7-part Bible study of the New Earth. God will make this Earth new without the blight of sin. “For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” (1 Corinthians 15:53 KJV)
What will be different on the New Earth? What does the Bible say? What do we know for sure from the Bible about the New Earth?
We know it will be a wonderful experience living on the New Earth. Will we return to the Earth that Adam knew before sin? Will it be “New” in every way? Will we have eyebrows?
Acts 3:20-21 (KJV)
20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
What does “restitution of all things” mean? What does it mean for us, for all of humanity, for the Earth, for the Universe?
When Adam sinned, humanity lost something. Yet, not humanity only was involved. God lost something also. God has promised to redeem what was lost for us and for Him.
Our little world is the lesson book of the universe. God’s wonderful purpose of grace, the mystery of redeeming love, is the theme into which “angels desire to look,” and it will be their study throughout endless ages. Both the redeemed and the unfallen beings will find in the cross of Christ their science and their song. It will be seen that the glory shining in the face of Jesus is the glory of self-sacrificing love. In the light from Calvary it will be seen that the law of self-renouncing love is the law of life for earth and heaven; that the love which “seeketh not her own” has its source in the heart of God; and that in the meek and lowly One is manifested the character of Him who dwelleth in the light which no man can approach unto. {DA 19.2}
We will forever be discovering the infinite depth of God’s love. However, we can know certain truths now, because God has revealed them in the Bible. God wants us to know the prize we can have. We can be sure of the excellency of the reward by the glimpse we are allowed to see through the words in the Bible.
We also know a lot from Ellen White. She lived from 1827 to 1915. Some of us look back to the glory days of Ellen White. Yet, she would want us to look forward to the light God has given in the Bible.
Proverbs 4:18 (KJV)
18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
The people of this Earth seek a prophet and “they seek a vision of the prophet.” (Ezekiel 7:26 KJV)
Ephesians 4:11 (KJV)
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
Prophets are sent from God. God’s Church will have the Spirit of Prophecy until the end.
Revelation 12:17 (KJV)
17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:7-8 (KJV)
7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The “gift of prophecy” is a gift from God until the very end. Where are our prophets? Are we not all prophets who are filled with God’s Spirit?
However, false prophets exist, and we must recognize them. We are enjoined to test them.
1 John 4:1 (KJV)
1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spiritswhether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Isaiah 8:20 (KJV)
20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
1 Corinthians 14:3-4 (KJV)
3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
A prophet’s purpose is to edify the Church.
Joel 2:28 (KJV)
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
Where are the prophets? The prophets are the Church. The group of true believers, who live in the final days of this sinful world, are the prophets who shall keep God’s Word alive. They shall be the testament which goes to all the world before Jesus returns.
Ellen White reminds us.
The Spirit was not given—nor can it ever be bestowed—to supersede the Bible; for the Scriptures explicitly state that the Word of God is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested. Says the apostle John, “Believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1. And Isaiah declares, “To the law and to the testimony; if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” Isaiah 8:20. {GC88 v.1 }
We are followers of Jesus, and in that service, we join Ellen White. We augment Ellen White’s testimony for Jesus. Ellen White did not finish our work. We still have a job to do. The prophets of God will stand in the final days. The work, which God has prophesied, will find completion.
