1 - According to the Bible is there a judgment, and who will be judged?
- Many seek the ruler’s favor, but every man’s judgment cometh from the Lord. Proverbs 29:26
- But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. Romans 14:10
- I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work. Ecclesiastes 3:17
2 - How does God judge?
- Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment. Job 34:12
- And He shall judge the world in righteousness, He shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness. Psalm 9:8
3 - What is the standard and basis of God’s judgment?
- 13Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
4 - Where does the judgment take place?
- 9I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. 10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. Daniel 7:9-10
5 - How do we know the judgment includes an investigation?
- 36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. Matthew 12:36-37
- 26Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; 27A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORDyour God, which I command you this day: 28And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God… Deuteronomy 11:26-28
6 - Who conducts the judgment?
- I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. Daniel 7:13
- 22For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son. 27And hath given Him authority to execute judgment because He is the Son of Man. John 5:22, 27
7 - Will all Christians stand in the judgment?
- 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:22-23
- Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. Luke 21:36
8 - When will the Judgment close?
- He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. Revelation 22:11
- And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. Revelation 22:12
- And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that is found written in the book. Daniel 12:1
9 – When will men be rewarded according to their works?
- 28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. John 5:28-29
- Blessed is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years. Revelation 20:6
- But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. Revelation 20:5
10 – When will the wicked be judged, and what will be their sentence?
- And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Revelation 21:2
- 7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. Revelation 20:7-8 (KJV)
- 11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. Revelation 20:11-12
- And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15
- And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts. Malachi 4:3
11 – How does God ensure that the Judgment is complete, and that sin will not raise its head a second time?
- And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. Revelation 19:20
- And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. Revelation 20:10
- And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Revelation 20:14
12 – What is the reward of the righteous?
- 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
- And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass having the harps of God. Revelation 15:2
- Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: Matthew 25:34
